Havtorn Vintervarmer

Sea buckthorn Winter warmer

Winter warmer, mulled wine, hot juice... dear child has many names. We call it winter warmer because it is drunk from November, through the winter and until sometime in March or April when it starts to smell a little like spring.

Sea buckthorn Winter warmer, made with 100% sea buckthorn juice, a little sugar, water and Christmas spices. It is ready in 1/2 hour and almost takes care of itself. Find the recipe below.
Sea buckthorn winter warmer

You will need:
  • 100% organic sea buckthorn juice, 250ml
  • 7.5 dl of water
  • 2 dl sugar
  • 1 pc. winter warming spices
or
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • 1 whole star anise
  • 3 cardamom capsules
  • 3 whole cloves
Mix it all together in a pan and heat it up slowly. The juice does not have to boil and if you would like more flavor from the spices, you can let it steep for a longer time and then heat it up again before serving. But otherwise 1/2 hour is fine.
The winter warmer is delicious without alcohol and can therefore be served to the whole family. It is also very popular with children.
Should you want to serve it in a version with alcohol, it could be a light rum, we think that works really well anyway. Regardless of whether you choose rum, schnapps or port, it just needs to be added to the glass when served.
A bottle of sea buckthorn juice with 250ml. turns into just over 1 liter of winter warmer. And should it happen that you can't drink it all, you can pick up the spices, refrigerate the juice and then heat up the rest before serving the next day. Or you can enjoy it cold the next day, it actually tastes good too.
